What to Expect

Accommodations will not be luxurious -- but very comfortable, clean, and unforgetable.

The language is Portuguese and you will be speaking it in no time.  It is similar to Spanish and sounds like French and Italian.  Your new friends will be eager to try out their English on you, and you'll find that the language of brotherly love is universal.

The climate in August is not too hot and not too cold.  It is the Brazilian winter so at night and in the mountains you may need a light sweater.

The people are the most diverse in the world.  Brazil is a melting pot of Africans, Portuguese, and Native South Americans.  Other immigrants, such as Japanese, Germans, Argentineans, and Italians, have joined the mix.  Every town has its own unique culture and customs.  Brazil is home to the extremely rich and the extremely poor.  Your heart will be broken as you minister to people from shanty towns, called favelas, and learn how the grace of God is sufficient and working powerfully in the "least of these".
